How to burn a DVD

I have got a DVD RW program in my Notebook, that means I can burn a DVD, correct?

If so, I inserted the source DVD and try to copy onto the hard disk (using the program) but the program responded the file is not acceptable for buring .

But the file is NOT protected.

Can anyone let me know how to burn the DVD?
