I have similar problem too. Luckily the relationship btw my mom and my maid are not so worse. My maid still respect my mom, though my mom will complain to me about my maid's practice from time to time.
The major problem is that my maid speaks English and my mom doesnt understand. My mom prefers my ex-Indo maid who can speak Cantonese but my BB loves this new maid much more. I have asked my mom and maid to call me for translation in case they need to communicate so that I can modify their words!

i think i'm going to have the same problem as yours.i have an indo helper and is hiring a filipino one. Both my mum and my mum in law would come to my place few times a week to play with my child. i'm thinking to prepare a list of instruction in both Chinese and English and hope it will help with the problem.
