but beware how they handle customer inquiry and their services quality. eg. how they handle on unexpected situation eg. the apt owner doesn\'t show up, disputes on broken possessions in the apt, lost of contact with the owner, reserved apt suddenly turns out to be unavailable before your arrival. best is to some research on tripadvisor where you can more comments and experiences of others.
I booked with airbn for an apt in Paris, I did a lot of research first before I used their service so that you know what may happen.
my experience was in Paris. the house was great but the environment wasn\'t good. I really don\'t recommend renting private premises via airbn unless you have a genuine need for a whole flat accommodating two or more families at the same time. especially in Europe where the social order is unstable across different towns and cities because the country size is big.
if you can find hotels or services apartment via ordinary travel agents and websites at similar prices, pick them as opposed to airbn. because you have no obligation most of the time with the former. for airbn, first you have to know your card info and deposit is held against possible disputes between you and flat owner. they have the right to charge you for broken things. airbn has no obligation to resolve the disputes. mostly they tend to stand on owner side.
read more from trip advisor where you can find a lot of real problematic cases eg. owner didn't show up to let you in, suddenly the flat becomes unavailable just couple of weeks prior to your arrival etc. and worst of all, fraud rental and owner. if you read more, then you know the operation of airbn in resourcing these flats aren't all sthe time reliable, because they don't actually have local correspondent to validate the flat info.
for my case, i read a lot of comments and source one that has many good comments. Don't just look at the pictures which may not be very genuine. So there're certainly risks associated with booking via this website because they hold a deposit against you, and the premises are privately owned, hence no renowned companies back up. While booking hotels, the chain hotels always have good will to keep their rooms and quality for you. Just be sure when you book, you know what're the possible risks, then it would fine.
Good luck in searching.
